Little Music Box
Insignificant soundtracks for homemade videos

In this show, CaboSanRoque puts four of its characters in a giant music box full of films and objects found on the streets of Barcelona which become a 27-cubic-metre, one hour and fifteen minutes lasting collage. The objects are combined to create instruments and musical robots bringing to life the soundtrack of amateur films from the seventies, found in a box that still conserve their original editing. It is a game between music and images, musicians and robots, chance and intentions, divergences and synchronism.

This is all due to having spent nearly two years locked away in França Xica, two years concentrated in a nine square metre space, patiently fitting nails, crickets, lights, lions, zebras, football players, boats and motorcyclists. We’ve done and undone, turned and returned everything that can be seen and not seen, making mistakes continuously.

…a fascinating show in which projections are combined with the mechanisms of invented toys and with a musical score that providentially wraps this small 27 cubic-metre micro cosmos. The Little Box works like an audiovisual music box that subtly catches the audience’s attention in a pleasurably nearly onirical journey, like the singing of the sirens that seduced Ulysses. S.F.
